Halloween Costume Swap

via

Did you know that Saturday is National Costume Swap Day?  Yes, as in not buying your child a new Halloween costume but going to a local event and just swapping with others!

If just half of the kids in America swapped Halloween costumes instead of getting new ones, we could reduce the annual landfill waste by 6,250 tons!  That's pretty significant!  (Plus think of the money you'll save not buying a new one or even buying all of the supplies to make one!)  You can click here to find a swap near you.  A lot of the events are on Saturday, but there are also a bunch that are the next weekend.

  7. I read something about this the other day and I thought genius! I don't have kiddos but it hit me like yeah why aren't parents swapping costumes with their neighbor's and friend's kids? Makes perfect sense!

  19. Oh my goodness! Ketchup packet baby is toooo adorable! That costume is hilarious.

I love the idea of costume swapping. Aside from the waste factor, it's beneficial for people that don't like to spend tons of money on a costume. Like me!

  23. Brilliant. I am all about reusing! Since having Levi, I've become way more aware of our household waste. So much so that we switched to cloth diapers early on.
